Introduction from Barrie T Evans, BAOMS President in 2009 Our Annual Scientific Meeting is one of the high points of our year as an Association. I hope this year will prove no exception. This preliminary programme gives the details of the Meeting. As you will see we are introducing Master Classes this year, which we hope will be well attended. In addition to the Presidential and Norman Rowe lectures, we have a Symposium on Mandibular Asymmetry, the BAOMS debate, 2 Keynote Lectures and a Hunterian Lecture. The didactic program is well balanced by 100 free papers and 100 posters. It will be a particular pleasure to welcome the oral and maxillofacial nurses who have a full days scientific programme on Friday 5th June. Registration for the Nurses Meeting on the 5th June 2009 is now closed – please note that you will not be able to register on the day. The Bournemouth International Centre (BIC) is a venue we have used with success in the past. It is a custom-built conference facility within easy walking distance of the headquarters hotel, the Royal Bath. Both are on the seafront. The Annual General Meeting will take place in the Tregonwell Hall of the Bournemouth International Centre (BIC) from 12 noon. I would encourage you to join us for our social evening at the National Motor Museum at Beaulieu on the evening of the 3rd of June. The reception and supper will be in the motor museum. Our Gala Dinner Dance will be at the Royal Bath Hotel on Thursday 4th June. This will be black tie. Finally, we have an Accompanying Persons programme on Thursday 4th, with guided tours of both Winchester Cathedral in the morning and Exbury Gardens in the afternoon. Details are on the BAOMS meeting website. You may register for the Meeting online via the BAOMS website. Please refer to the site for special rates. However, these are only available if booked before 5 May 2009 so please book early. I, and the Officers of the Association very much look forward to welcoming you to Bournemouth. The south coast of England is marvellous at this time of the year.
Masterclasses There will be 8 Masterclasses taking place as follows in the Royal Bath Hotel from 0745-0845. Places are limited to 15 in each Masterclass. Thursday 4 June
Friday 5 June 2009
