Introduction from Bob Woodwards, BAOMS President in 2011

Please note the change of the date of the meeting in 2011 - it will now take place from 22-24 June 2011 due to the G8 summit which is now taking place in Nice before the BAOMS meeting.

The interface specialties will be the theme of the meeting, which is taking place in Nice, situated on the delightful Cote d'Azur, with the conference facilities located centrally with good connections via the new tramway service. It is a new venue for BAOMS and I hope that it will prove to be a pleasant and relaxing environment for our meeting and for our partners to enjoy as well.

This year's President's Lecture will be given by Professor Davinder Sandhu, Medical Dean for the Severn Deanery, and well known to many of you as lead dean for our specialty and also the interface specialties.

Each day of the conference will feature a symposium based on one of the three interface specialties of Cleft surgery, Head and Neck Oncology, and Reconstructive and Cosmetic surgery. I intend to continue with the daily Masterclasses introduced so successfully by Barrie Evans in his conference in Bournemouth and continued by Maire Morton in Manchester this year. Four of these will be held each day on the Thursday and Friday morning with the aim of covering as wide an area of practice as possible. They will be open to all but of particular interest at SpR and consultant level.

Free paper and poster presentations will also be a major feature of the scientific programme.
